Batman: Arkham Asylum is an original adventure with quick action and large-scale fighting sequences. The Game is experienced from a close third-person perspective in a setting styled after survival horror. Arkham Asylum is a psychiatric institution for criminally insane individuals located in Gotham City. At the beginning of the Game, Batman is seen delivering the Joker there. The evildoer springs the ambush and quickly seizes control of the establishment, bringing a horde of thugs and several dangerous inmates for backup. The convoluted story is told within a recreation of the asylum and the island it is located on, both of which can be freely explored. Batman cane the outer parts of Arkham and the inside hallways by climbing to higher elevations and gliding back down safely. The three-button combat control scheme of the Game is designed to allow for free-flowing techniques and strings of combo attacks on numerous foes, making it especially well-suited for the one-against-many fighting style of the Game. In addition, Batman possesses a belt stuffed with handy gadgets to help even the odds. These include X-ray scanners and chemical tracers, which enable him to see through walls and follow invisible tracks. Stealthy prowling provides advantages in placement and surprise, rewarding the hero’s caution and patience with one-hit takedowns. Placement and surprise advantages can be gained by stealthy prowling. Batman cane his gear and make it more suited to the challenges he faces as a reduced experience he gains through battle, exploration, and experimentation. Other insane asylum patients with superpowers, such as Bane, Killer Croc, and Zsasz, are Batman’s adversaries. Batman’s primary adversaries are the Joker and his brilliant criminal partner, Harley Quinn. As is customary, it will take both mental and physical fortitude to decipher the insanity-inducing plot that Joker has devised.
Paul Dini, who also worked as a writer and producer on Batman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond, was the one who came up with the plot for Batman: Arkham Asylum. Voice acting is done by Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, and Arleen Sorkin, who are all regulars in the cartoon series. Rocksteady Studios, responsible for the first-person shooter Urban Chaos: Riot Response, developed this Game. Urban Chaos: Riot Response was published by Eidos in 2006. The Game of the Year Edition of Arkham Asylum includes not just the whole Game but all of the features included in the Game’s initial release.
Additionally, the Game of the Year Edition supports three-dimensional effects through the TriOviz brand of stereoscopic technology and ships with two pairs of special glasses that may be used with the Game. The 3D technology may be utilized on any standard television set or monitor, and this technology does not require the purchase of any additional hardware. The Game of the Year Edition re-release comes packaged with four other Challenge Maps not included in the Game’s first release.
