Battlefield: Bad Company is a war-themed first-person shooter developed specifically for console platforms. The title alludes to a group of troops from the 222nd Army unit deemed challenging to lead and incompetent troublemakers. As a result, they are not given much respect in battle, and a squad of four decides to desert to pursue their objectives. The fight occurs in fictitious Middle Eastern countries, with the US squad facing off against Russians, Middle East coalition soldiers, and Legionnaire mercenaries. Preston Marlowe, the protagonist, is controlled by the player. Terrence Sweetwater, George Gordon Haggard Jr., and the leader, Samuel Redford, are his team members.
Marlowe has a health injector he can use as often as he wants to heal himself. When he dies, he also respawns in the last spot. At any given time, players can only carry a maximum of four weapons. There are numerous vehicles to handle, including hummers, buggies, boats, tanks, boats, and even helicopters. The plot follows the individuals as they travel across various imaginary countries on a quest, eventually revealing their origin and objective.
The new Frostbite DX engine allows for destroying various items and buildings, almost entirely wrecking them. Because anything may be destroyed, the environment can no longer be used as a cover. The multiplayer mode includes games with a rating system that gradually unlocks things and weaponry. The main game only offers one way, Gold Rush, which features teams of attackers and defenders.
Players could receive player codes to unlock five new weapons by participating in five events such as describing to the newsletter, pre-ordering the game, or reaching a certain rank in the demo: F2000 assault rifle, USAS-12 semi-automatic shotgun, M60 light machine gun, QBU-88 sniper rifle, and the silenced UZI submachine gun.
