The sequel to Bit. Trip Runner is Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien. The game’s appearance and feel are vastly different from the original. Runner 2 abandons the retro aesthetic of the original in favor of a cartoon art style. Charles Martinet narrates the game’s tale, which takes on a more comedic tone.
In some areas, the game expands on the original. Several additional actions have been added, such as twisting the analog stick to track Commander Video’s progress around a loop. Furthermore, level selection occurs on a map screen like other classic platform games. Levels provide different paths that can be easier or more difficult to finish depending on the way. Additional mid-level checkpoints are optional and offer the player more points if they are skipped. Collecting all the gold in each stage enables the player to fire Commander Video from a cannon onto a target to get extra points.
There are multiple characters to unlock and several costumes for each.
The game has 120 levels, online leaderboards for each stage, and various difficulties for replay value.
