The third game in the BloodRayne series is BloodRayne: Betrayal. The game has a considerably more cartoonish and comic-like approach than the preceding parts in terms of graphical style and increased use of hilarious content. It’s a side-scrolling action platformer like Castlevania games, focusing on stylish and exaggeratedly violent hack-and-slash action.
Rayne leads a troop of soldiers to a massive, demonic underground castle to face Kagan, her father, at the request of the Brimstone Society. The soldiers aren’t particularly effective, although Rayne does receive assistance from unexpected sources. Rayne can dash and do long backflips, and wall-jumping is a valuable tactic for navigating the castle. She may fight foes with blades, weapons, kicks, and other combo attacks. As a dhampir – a half-vampire – she may also consume the blood of her enemies to replenish her energy. She may also infect opponents, turning them into walking explosives that she can detonate at will, dramatically spreading explosions.
