Brink is a cooperative first-person shooter that takes place shortly when water covers practically the world’s entire surface. The Ark is one of the few remaining places that can still be inhabited, although there is tension between the resistance fighters and the security personnel. They are now engaged in open confrontation with one another and are attempting to gain the upper hand. The game includes two different single-player campaigns. However, they are essentially the same as the multiplayer mode, except for some cutscenes and automated characters.

Every map is comprised of several distinct regions, each of which has its objectives. Naturally, security and resistance are in direct competition with one another; for this reason, protection must first blow up the gate leading to the rebel stronghold in one region, and resistance must thwart security’s plan while simultaneously pursuing its objectives. These objectives can only be accomplished using one of the four classes: soldiers are in charge of using brute force, doctors are responsible for healing their allies, engineers can employ various devices, and agents hack computers. Along with the four fundamental sorts of missions (escorting, destroying, defending, and using a machine, respectively), there are also class-specific objectives. Brink makes use of an automatic mission system, which means that if one player initiates the operation of “planting a bomb,” then all of the other players will be given the job of defending him. The successful completion of those missions awards experience points to the player characters, which may then be used to improve their capabilities and open up new options for them.

This game places a strong emphasis on cooperation between players, and there are a variety of different methods in which other classes can assist one another. If a particular type is required for a specific task, the player can switch classes anytime using a terminal within the game. When making a new character, the game provides various customization options; however, these only affect the character’s outward appearance. The only exception to this rule is the character’s physical measurements; a prominent character can access larger weapons, while a little figure moves more quickly. The second group also has access to the so-called “SMART” system, which, when activated by holding down a button, enables them to climb over barriers or slide over the ground.
