The Bible claims that God created Adam in his image, which is inaccurate. It is also untrue that Adam was the first thinking being to walk the earth’s surface. The Firstborn was created in the beginning. The Firstborn was an accurate representation of God. A monster without sex, neither dark nor light, and both lovely and terrifying to see. God feared his creation and abandoned it, banished it to the Abyss, instead creating Adam with all his imperfections.

But the Firstborn had already made contact with the Earth. Leaving a shame so intense that even God’s exile couldn’t stop it from breaking into the mortal world to recover its birthright. The Earth was wounded in a desolate desert in the Middle East. The Firstborn festered for eons, tearing the fabric of reality as human civilization flourished around it.

An ancient prophecy states that the Firstborn will successfully enter the mortal world seven times. It brings diseases, corruption, and perversity until seven mystics sacrifice themselves to drive it back into the abyss. This has happened six times already. The ground beneath the city of Al-Khali trembles once more as the Firstborn returns to the world for the final time, either to be defeated in a final struggle or to discover eternal freedom.

Throughout the years, every civilization has made sure that the seven mystics are ready to combat the Firstborn, and this has not altered. They are now known as the Jericho Squad and have been sent to Al-Kahli. The city where one journey back in time by venturing further into its core until he finds the origin of all.

The game is a straightforward First Person Shooter. However, each of the seven members of the Jericho Squad has unique talents and weapons. While Cpt. Devin Ross employs the Patrioteer (a shotgun and assault rifle combo) and is the only team member capable of healing wounded colleagues, Sgt. Wilhelmina “Billie” Church is more of a samurai. She wields a Nodachi as a melee weapon, a rapid-fire submachine gun, and Blood magic, enabling her to call either a Blood or a Fire Ward.

Although your teammates perform a fine job on their own, you can eventually take over one of them and do whatever you like. The squad is divided into two teams to which you can issue commands such as “Hold” or “Follow,” which is handy if you want to place one group to cover your six and take the others into combat with you.

The health system is comparable to games such as Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas and Call of Duty. This means no health kits are lying around. When you are hit, you must seek cover to regenerate. If you are severely injured, you will collapse to the ground; however, as previously said, Ross and Rawlings can bring you back to life. The game only ends if you are not healed quickly enough or if both Ross and Rawlings are killed.

Clive Barker, the creator of the Hellraiser films, significantly affected the creation of the entire game, including art direction and background story, as the name implies. However, Clive Barker’s Jericho is not the successor to Clive Barker’s Undying.
