The sequel to DeathSpank is DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue. It, too, was created by Ron Gilbert and followed a similar action role-playing architecture to the first game.
The story picks up precisely where DeathSpank left off, with DeathSpank discovering that his Thong of Justice is only one of six mythical Thongs of Virtue. The other Thongs, on the other hand, have corrupted their wearers (including a nun, a famous TV chef, and Santa Claus), and DeathSpank must beat them once and for all to put an end to the evil of the corrupted Thongs.
While the previous game parodies well-known fantasy themes, the sequel visits and satirizes more modern settings. The new surroundings offer a variety of appropriate new weapons, ranging from a war-torn WWII-esque countryside to the old West. Guns, grenades, bazookas, flamethrowers, and more odd weaponry add to DeathSpank’s arsenal of punishment! There are also over 20 new and distinctive armor sets to keep DeathSpank safe in his mission to help the oppressed.
The game has more side quests than DeathSpank and a greater emphasis on puzzle solving (the Monkey Island half of the equation). Some classic NPCs return, but many fully voiced new characters join the DeathSpank cast.
Steve, a new co-op sidekick character, joins DeathSpank. Steve is said to be Lord Von Prong’s long-lost son, nurtured by marketing ninjas. He mounts a pygmy unicorn, wields two swords and a fistful of shurikens, can lasso foes and heal DeathSpank, and can sing operatically. The original game’s companion, Sparkles the Wizard, is still playable in co-op.
DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue, at least twice the size of the first game, finishes DeathSpank’s Thong story by adding more locales, weaponry, and objectives, all in the name of Justice.
