Diablo III is the third installment in the Blizzard Entertainment franchise. The story takes place twenty years after Diablo II when a star falls on the cathedral in Old Tristram (the same cathedral that the hero had to explore down to Hell in the original Diablo). The hero, a male or female member of one of five classes (Barbarian, Monk, Demon Hunter, Witch-doctor, and Wizard), examines the mysterious falling star.

Like its predecessors, the game is a dungeon crawler in which the player battles swarms of foes ranging from creatures and zombies to real demons. The environment is made up of different maps. The maps for towns and cities are predefined, but the maps for fields and dungeons are random. When the player reloads the game, these maps are reset. The game is divided into four acts, two modes (standard and hardcore) and four difficulty levels (normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno). Failure is not permitted in a hardcore way. The patches also included a “monster power” setting, which allows you to scale the specified difficulty from 1 to 10.

Each character has a variety of powers to pick from, including a primary (left click) assault, a special (right click) attack, four special abilities (keys 1–4), and three passive abilities. Each slot in each class has a unique set of capabilities that may be unlocked by leveling up. Some of these skills have rules that give them a distinctive impact. Setting specific talents and runes is what will distinguish your character.

The equipment is another crucial aspect of customization. The equipment slots are as follows: head, shoulder, arm, chest, belt, legs, feet, main hand, off-hand, amulet slot, and two ring slots. The equipment’s random magical characteristics necessitate frequent switching of armor and weaponry. Dyes can be used to paint the armor components, and gems can be placed in socketed equipment to add more magical characteristics. New equipment can be dropped by enemies, purchased in shops and auction houses, or forged at the forge. There’s also a jewelry section where you can make diamonds and amulets.

In solo mode, three followers (Templar, Scoundrel, and Enchantress) eventually join the hero on their mission. They also have six equipment slots (rings and amulet, off-hand and main hand, and a place for a particular tool unique to each follower). At any point, a friend can join a solitary game. When the game moves to co-op mode, the follower will become unavailable. In multiplayer, there is no friendly fire. Instead of playing solo or co-op, the user can join public games. A simple PVP option dubbed “duels” is also available, which is free for all death battles for up to four players.

The auction house is a new element to Diablo III, where things can be swapped for in-game gold or real money, which can also be used to purchase Blizzard merchandise. The game includes many achievements that may be obtained by satisfying specific prerequisites. Because of the game’s random fields, dungeons, and possible sub-quests, it takes several play-throughs to get achievements, finish quests, and discover all of the game’s sub-plots and characters’ backstories.
