Droplitz, like Pipe Mania, is a puzzle game in which the player must guide drops of liquid (called droplitz) through a network of pipes. Droppers appear from the top of the screen, where droplitz occur. The objective is to direct these droplitz to the collectors at the bottom of the screen. This is accomplished by rotating dials to build droplitz paths. Each dial comprises a small pipe piece that must be joined to provide the necessary flow. Droplitz is limited in number and will vaporize when they reach a dead end. The game is over when all droplitz are gone. A purple bonus droplitz emerges whenever a path is created. When the additional droplitz reaches the bottom, it destroys the track, and adjacent dials drop down to take its place. Every way that is eliminated raises the difficulty. For every five difficulty levels reached, a new theme is unlocked. The game’s speed and board size increase as the player progresses through the stages. There are nine boards (levels) in total.
Four modes are in the game: Classic, Endurance Challenge, Power Up, and Infection. The latter three are accessible by achieving high scores in the mode above them, with the Zendurance Challenge mode starting at 75,000 points and increasing for each method. In Zendurance Challenge mode, the player selects a theme (that he has unlocked) and must live as long as possible while maintaining a consistent tempo. In Power Ups, the player wins several power-ups that can be used to demolish board areas, freeze the board, or delay the speed of the drops. Dials can become infected in Infection mode, making them more difficult to rotate and hence only destroyable if a passage is created through them.
