The fall of the Han Dynasty is revisited in Dynasty Warriors 7, although this time, the story continues through the conclusion of the Three Kingdoms Era. The story mode, quite similar to the one in Dynasty Warriors 4, focuses solely on the narratives of each of the four factions (Wei, Wu, Shu, and Jin), even if the main character shifts from level to level. In the Conquest mode, the player selects a character to play as and then battles their way across a map of China. Along the way, they must complete battles with unique objectives, experience points, and new weaponry. The player can make friends with enemy officers, at which point they will fight alongside them. The player’s character can now equip almost any weapon in the game. However, each character has a preference for specific armaments over others. The player can switch between the two weapons they are equipped with in real-time, which activates a switch attack and extends combo assaults.
