F1 2011 is a racing game simulating Formula One with the ful2011 season license. It is not a precise simulation like Grand Prix Legends, but it emphasizes the racing genre’s simulation part. Inexperienced players can use driving assists.
The center of the game, as with its predecessor, is the career mode, in which the player starts with a minor team and works his way up to the top (the attention of bigger groups comes with personal triumphs, solving the current team’s goals, and intelligent press interviews). The “headquarter” vehicle is where players can look up statistics or further their career through contract discussions. The player can select from different settings or customize various details for each race. Aside from the career mode, other game types include a bespoke grand prix, time trials, time attacks, and multiplayer.
The critical differences between F1 2010 and real-life Formula One are the same: two new tracks, KERS (increased speed for a brief period) and DRS, designed to help during overtaking maneuvers. Other updates include safety vehicles, a revamped AI, new graphical effects, minor tweaks to the press mechanism, and a co-op championship mode.
