A Formula 1 racing game in the Codemasters series, F1 2012 is based on the 2012 campaign. Except for mid-season alterations, the game includes all twelve teams, twenty-four drivers, and twenty Grands Prix, including the brand-new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
The Grand Prix mode, which was present in earlier games and allowed users to experience a season as a genuine pilot, has been eliminated in favor of specific improvements to the Career mode. New game modes have also been included. While Young Driver Test is a tutorial for novice players with a series of movies and tests, Champions mode tests the player to accomplish numerous scenarios, which typically involve finishing ahead of one of the previous F1 world champions. Another brand-new feature is the Season Challenge mode, a briefer but hectic career where players can frequently switch to a different vehicle constructor by taking on opponents. The new One-shot Qualifying mode, in which only the first lap is preserved and valid for placement, makes qualifying sessions optionally shorter.
