The second game in Sports Interactive’s Worldwide Soccer Manager series, Worldwide Soccer Manager 2006, is part of the Football Manager franchise. The game allows the player to manage a team in most of the national soccer tournaments that are held throughout the world. The player can choose how many facets of the game he wants to handle, from as few as one to as many. It includes 270,000 different personalities, including players, managers, and other team employees, as well as 5,000 different teams from 50 countries.

- The first time that a series has included an in-game tutorial.
- New section on injuries.
- Interaction on a one-to-one basis with disgruntled athletes.
- Contracts with managers.
- Commands were yelled from the touchline throughout the game.

- Profiles of the referees to determine who is severe and who is not.
