The soccer management game series has reached its fourth version with the Worldwide Soccer Manager 2008 release. It expands on the basic idea while incorporating much new functionality.
This update includes several adjustments and improvements, such as a small radar pitch that appears during tactical shifts, a new adviser system, an enhanced notebook system, a reworked captain selection, and support for widescreen displays. In addition, there is a TV view, and players are permitted to hold press conferences before and after matches. The other significant elements are the international management, the board and fan confidence system, the award system, the financial system, and a new calendar.
Transfers can be monitored through the game’s transfer center, and for the first time, players can select a female manager. Online play is available in both the PC and console iterations of the game. The game’s statistics are based on the 2008–2009 football season, which includes over 5,000 playable clubs from over 50 nations and about 350,000 players and staff members from all over the world.
