Geometry Wars promises frantic, fast-paced action! As a lone spaceship, you must face swarms of various vividly colored shapes that assault you in their unique patterns. There are the fundamental Pinwheels, the unstable Black Holes that try to pull you (and foes) in, and the long, hazardous Snakes. Each adversary bursts in a bright shower of sparks, making it tough to travel across space while avoiding foes and ignoring the explosions.
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved combines two games into one. Retro is the first version, initially included as a hidden game in Project Gotham Racing 2. Retro has a 4:3 aspect ratio and fewer visual effects.
Evolved, the other, more popular version of the game, was also included in Project Gotham Racing 3. This game version has a 16:9 aspect ratio, more powerful graphics, and special effects. In addition, you can only earn a maximum of nine ships and nine lives, whereas the previous game allowed for an unlimited amount. Finally, the playing area has been reduced so that the entire field is not visible, but scrolling has been added instead.
However, the primary game for both versions is the same: shoot everything while avoiding being fired or hitting yourself. The left analog stick controls your ship, and the right analog stick fires your weapon in any direction. Your ship’s weapon automatically upgrades every 2,500 points, allowing you to destroy vessels faster. Some competent explosives’ can be detonated by pressing the L or R trigger button. Smart Bombs clear the field of all foes, but many more will swiftly replace them!
