The Lost and Damned is Grand Theft Auto IV’s first expansion pack. It is available as downloadable content (DLC) and requires playing the original game.

A fresh storyline with a new protagonist, Johnny Klebitz, is set in Liberty City, the same as the first game. He is the vice president of The Lost Motorcycle Club, a biker gang. While President Billy Grey is in treatment, he takes over and attempts to reach agreements with the other teams. When Grey returns, he resorts to his violent techniques, making it challenging to keep the operation functioning. Billy and Johnny compete for leadership while dealing with the other gangs, notably the Angels of Death. However, the original game is not forgotten since Niko Bellic not only appears in the game but also plays a significant role in the plot. Parts of the game’s actions are also influenced by the original game’s events, implying that both stories take place simultaneously.

The game begins in a clubhouse in Alderney, in the city’s western outskirts, to which Niko only gains access late. The entire city is available at the same time. In contrast to the original game and the spirit of Johnny’s biker gang, there is a greater emphasis on teamwork with the other members. On the screen, their health bars are also displayed. When a member is killed in action, he must be replaced with a less experienced kid, making advancement more difficult and pushing the player to look after his friends. The gang also has tight standards, especially when riding in a specific formation is essential. Members can be called upon to supply weapons, and stealing other cars is discouraged. Johnny begins on a bike that is nearly unbreakable but may be replaced. Most of the new vehicles are bikes, but there are a few new trucks and vans.

Arm wrestling, pool, and card games are among the new minigames available at the clubhouse. There are new websites, TV shows, and three new radio stations with a hard rock concentration. In addition to the main plot, there are challenges focused on racing or gang battles. A grenade launcher, an assault shotgun, a pool cue, a pipe bomb, and an automatic 9mm are among the new weaponry.

Races, club business, lone wolf biker (Full Throttle and Chopper Vs. Chopper), witness protection, and gang war are the six new multiplayer modes.
