Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is a prequel to the 2011 film Green Lantern, which is based on the DC comic book of the same name. Hal Jordan, an arrogant test pilot, is the primary character. After being attacked by Parallax, an entity he previously imprisoned, an extraterrestrial named Abin Sur, a member of the Green Lantern Corps interplanetary police agency, wrecked his vessel on Earth. Jordan is chosen as the ring’s new bearer and is given incredible powers. When he wears the call during an attack by Ferris Aircraft employees, he is taken to Oa, the home planet of the Green Lantern Corps, where he meets Kilowog and Sinestro. After meeting Abin’s father, Amon Sur, Oa is assaulted by the Manhunters. These artificial species functioned as the first cosmic police force before being abolished by the Guardians of the Universe because they got too powerful. The game revolves around the conflict between the two groups, as the Manhunters seek to retake their status while attempting to eliminate the Guardians.
It is an action game in which Jordan must use his talents to defeat the Manhunter army. He wields green power that can manifest in various ways, such as a laser sword that weaves fast and powerful blows into combinations. He also has a variety of drill attacks, the ability to claw grasp adversaries and throw them away, and later upgrades allow him to launch projectiles by converting the energy into a gun. Incoming attacks can be blocked or avoided, while defeated enemies drop orbs that can be used to obtain experience points and level up. Balls can also be found in vases, while blue crates hold health. Jordan’s new talents are known as constructions. They usually provide new and far more powerful means of assault, but utilizing them depletes a green energy meter. They are saved in a separate menu and can be assigned to up to eight buttons simultaneously. However, you can return and attach additional structures at any time based on the situation. Green meteorites can be found along the way. The ring energy meter advances by one level every time three absorb energy. There are 10 primary missions, each concluding with a boss fight involving quick-time events.
The direct action scenes occur on the ground, with the player going from one region to the next when all opponents have been eliminated. However, some missions also include gameplay in flight. Like a Space Harrier, Jordan travels through the air in a single direction and must avoid obstacles while attacking foes. These episodes take place in both open spaces and on massive vessels.
The game may be played cooperatively by adding another player as Sinestro. Specific attacks can only be carried out with the help of others. The game features 3D images on regular TVs with TriOviz Inficolor 3D technology combined with 3D glasses and on proper 3DTVs with stereoscopic 3D.
