Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet is a side-scrolling action game in which the player controls an alien piloting a small flying saucer. The player’s objective is to eliminate a particular life form from space that has infected both the alien’s homeworld and the sun. While fending off bizarre monsters, you will need to pilot the UFO through various challenging environments, such as tunnels, underwater terrain, ice caverns, and mechanical sections. You will uncover upgrades for your ship and also extra weaponry and equipment for the saucer’s robot arm from time to time. The robot arm enables you to open different tunnels to other locations, similar to how it works in the Metroid games. The game’s presentation is reminiscent of Limbo in that it has murky images with a limited palette, no music, and only sound effects.
