Through the Kinect interface, gamers in Kinect Disneyland Adventures can explore the various attractions within the actual theme park. Players do not merely ride the attraction; instead, they take part in an adventure based on the cinematic universe depicted in that attraction. For instance, in the Peter Pan attraction, rather than taking a seat in a flying boat, the character participates in a mini-game with Peter Pan in which they fly.
The various activities offered at each site are connected through the Park. Players can interact with forty Disney characters, including Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Dumbo, and Cinderella. In contrast to the games, this experience is more like an open world in which the player’s avatar can interact with the characters by giving hugs, taking pictures, obtaining hints, and being sent on excursions. In addition to the playable characters, non-playable items such as trash cans, water fountains, and statues come to life and engage in conversation with the players.
The KDA is a blend of the games at the attractions and the open world that connects them. In this open world, players will fulfill objectives, complete tasks, and receive rewards from the characters.
