LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is the first installment in the LEGO Harry Potter series. Players take control of various characters and recreate memorable moments from the first four Harry Potter books: Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, and Goblet of Fire. Almost the entire game takes place within Hogwarts.
The Story mode is divided into four years, each with six chapters. When you initially play story mode, you must play specific characters from the tale, and you cannot select any character from the whole series. However, after completing that chapter, a Free Mode is unlocked, allowing you to choose any unlocked character and rerun the story. All story chapters and years can be accessible through The Leaky Cauldron, the game’s central hub. The entire environment encourages continual play; most locations can be returned anytime. However, many of the characters’ interactions shift depending on the season or when new characters, such as the Dementors or Gilderoy Lockhart, are introduced.
Diagon Alley is located outside of The Leaky Cauldron. Other stores in Diagon Alley can be visited to buy things and supplies. Your hard-earned studs (the cash) can be used at Madam Malkin’s Robes to purchase new characters. Head upstairs at Eeylops Eye Emporium to buy Red Bricks containing cheat codes. And at Wiseacre’s Wizarding Supplies, you can purchase exciting new spells to cast on whomever you want. Casting spells is a significant component of the game and is accessed through a spell wheel, from Wingardium Leviosa to the deadly Aveda Kedavra (only the three versions of Voldemort can use this).
LEGO Harry Potter increases the replay value by including a slew of goodies. To reach 100% completion, you’ll need to find and buy all 167 characters, save 50 pupils in danger, find 200 gold bricks, and much more. You can search Hogwarts’s many rooms and floors for all of these valuables at any moment. If you want to grab everything immediately, you must wait because several characters have unique special skills.
There is no internet multiplayer in LEGO Harry Potter, although there is co-op. Another person can join you in the action, performed on a single screen, at any time. Similar to LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues, when one character leaves the screen, the game automatically splits and continues until they are close again.
