After two and a half years of training, ninja comrades Naruto Uzumaki and Sakura Haruno are reunited to rescue their friend Sasuke Uchiha, who deserted their village to hunt down his brother. The way to Sasuke, however, is fraught with peril for the young ninja and their companions, as they must contend with a criminal organization: the Akatsuki, of whom Itachi Uchiha is a member. The Akatsuki, a group of nine criminal ninjas commanded by Pain, has set out to conquer the world by capturing the various tailed beasts from the jinchriki. These humans have the animals locked within them. Naruto, the possessor of the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, is one of these, making him a top target of the organization. Meanwhile, Sasuke gathers a group of skilled ninjas to track down and kill Itachi, his brother.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 is a video game based on the Naruto: Shippuden anime, with nine chapters covering the tale from the first to the 175th episode. The plot moves along through a succession of one-on-one or team battles. Fighting takes place between ninjas who charge chakra to perform offensive jutsu. Items can be used in combat by assigning them to one of the directional buttons. Support characters can be summoned to conduct jutsu of three types: defense, attack, and balanced. The Support Drive is activated after gathering enough support characters. At this point, a Team Ultimate Jutsu can be performed, expending a substantial quantity of the player character’s chakra and dealing significant damage to the opponent. Aside from battles, there is a free-roaming section where the player character can travel between exact replicas of the different places featured in the anime, completing side quests, collecting materials, and purchasing goods from shops.
