NFL Head Coach 09 is the sequel to NFL Head Coach, released in 2006. It allows the athlete the opportunity to take over an NFL organization, coach them to the Super Bowl, and ultimately be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Once again, the player will employ and fire players, assistant coaches, and other office personnel and edit and play for their team’s use.
Games are once again played in real-time, but the players have no control over their team; instead, they coach their players, telling them what runs to run and making game-changing decisions like going for the win on 4th and goal with only a few seconds on the clock or faking a field goal and going for two points to win rather than tying the game. Players can also manage their club over the offseason by tracking prospective NFL Draft picks.
Players can also share their playbooks online for others to see and compete head-to-head, coaching their squad against their opponents.
