The NHL 2K7 ice hockey game has a few changes from NHL 2K6, including an updated camera that provides a better view of the action while still showing the field. This parametric camera is lower than a standard top-down camera and features automatic zooming and turning based on the position of the players on the rink. Other enhancements include the ability to stalk opponents to put pressure on them and increase their chances of making a mistake. Holding the left bumper and guiding the proper control stick toward another player does this. Taps can then be used to determine the pressure level, with heavy tapping invariably resulting in a powerful check.
Aside from that, the game types from the previous version remain, as do most of the gameplay and mini-games. It contains a new rivalry system that generates statistical bonuses and takeaways based on how players perform against rival teams. The significant changes made to the Xbox 360 version of the game, such as the “cinematic” presentation scheme, are not carried over. This is especially noticeable in the graphical section.
