What a terrible time to awaken from a long nap. Gnarl, your minion master, chose to wake you up because your predecessor messed up big time. He allowed these “heroes” to slay him and let them destroy and plunder the Dark Tower. It is now up to you, the overlord, to put things right and fix the tower to serve as a beautiful testament to the ultimate evil you represent.

You can achieve this by summoning minions from spawn pits. At first, you can only call brown ones who are foolish and only know how to battle close up. However, as time passes, you gain increasingly powerful minions, such as the red ones, who resist fire and shoot fire bolts from a distance. The minions will follow you around and go wherever your left-hand points. They demolish, kill, or loot whatever they encounter on their journey. Anything helpful is then returned to you. They’ll utilize whatever weapons or other objects they find.

After you murder a living entity, its life energy is left behind. It would be best if you collected this to produce more minions. But you’re not utterly helpless without them; you’re an evil ruler. Aside from your massive axe, you can utilize spells like the good old fireball or put a shield around yourself.

As you complete tasks and retrieve goods from your tower, more tower rooms become available, such as the Armoury and Build, where you can build armor and weapons for yourself.

If you’re sick of being wicked by yourself, you can switch to multi-player mode. There, you can either play collaboratively with another Overlord to survive wave after wave of foes or race against each other for gold or points.
