PES 2008 upgrades the clubs and players for the 2007/2008 season, adding previously unseen clubs. Goalkeepers won’t be able to catch every ball easily; players will collide with each other, slip and try to stay balanced, be able to fake fouls and hope they don’t get caught by the referee, and so on. The English League now uses fictitious symbols for illegal clubs such as Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal, while several other clubs retain accurate insignia. Their player names and statistics, however, are correct. The same cannot be stated for a substantial percentage of national selections, which feature players with accurate statistics but garbled names and generic looks.
When you press the kicking button for too long, players will not kick the ball as high, and dribbling is adjusted and improved compared to the previous game. League (English, Italian, Spanish, French, and Dutch), Master League, Exhibition, Training, and Edit Mode are the regular modes.
There are 59 music tracks available to assign to a particular portion of the game (main menu, league menu, stats screen, and so on). This is the first game in the series to be released on the PlayStation 3.
