Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 follows the football franchise’s yearly installments and includes up-to-date player transfers for the 2009/2010 season. Many new movements are included in the game, and the players move more slowly and realistically. Even a mediocre player may hit the net from 40 meters away with a lucky strike. Most graphics enhancements focus on the detail of players’ faces and shadows. Although there are still five levels of gameplay, the computer AI behaves differently this time, opening up new ways to play the game.

These include game modes from previous editions in the franchise, such as Exhibition and Master League, as well as new ones, such as UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. The Become a Legend mode debuted in PES 2009 is also accessible. Aside from graphics, details were added to tactics and strategy to position players more accurately based on their talent. The card system, linked to specific players’ exceptional skills, is an entirely new concept. This offers that player the upper hand over their opponent. In past titles, certain top players might accomplish dazzling maneuvers while remaining uncontrollable. Direct control over this becomes available with the card system in PES 2010.

The Master League mode is more detailed and includes sponsors, youth teams, and real currencies (such as the Euro, British Pound, US Dollar, and Japanese Yen). Money can also compensate a scout who handles negotiations and physical factors, the trainer, and other staff members. The Premier League, Liga Espanola, Italian League, Eredivisie, and others, as well as the World Cup, Konami Cup, and others, are still covered, with national teams and league teams substantially up to date.

Unlike previous installments, the player’s graphical representation is no longer available. Individual players can still be seen as a part of a team, but not as individuals. This means that it takes time to become acquainted with them by going through numerical statistics or determining the compatibility of the players’ peak performance with their position.

Co-op is comparable to the series, including assisted player switching and semi-assisted and manual switching. Manual means that the player will not be switched until the player selects it, whereas semi-automatic implies that the player to whom a pass is given will be changed.
