The basic Rock Band formula is scaled down into a single-player controller-based game with no instruments necessary in Rock Band Blitz.
Most of the game’s concepts and inspiration come from Amplitude, one of Harmonix’s early rhythm games. Like Amplitude, Rock Band Blitz allows you to play various instruments (Drums, Bass, Guitar, Vocals, and Keyboards) on a single lane. To earn points, the player must hit two notes on each road. Increasing your score can be accomplished in various ways, including using power-ups before a song, keeping the note streak alive and activating “Blitz Mode,” or increasing a lane’s multiplier before reaching one of the checkpoints that reset it.
The game includes 25 different songs from various genres. More tracks can also be downloaded via DLC from the Rock Band Music Store in the menu.
