Roogoo is a puzzle game with falling bricks. Roogoo, on the other hand, is three-dimensional, unlike many others in the genre. The levels are made up of spherical floating platforms with shaped holes. The goal is to spin the media so that the falling-shaped pieces can pass through the holes and reach the lowest level. On paper, it may appear almost too simple. Still, the game keeps throwing new challenges at the player throughout the 45 puzzle-solving levels, including varying amounts of blocks required to pass through the holes, butterflies playing with blocks you’ve already placed, nasty little creatures sitting on some of the gaps – and more.

The game takes place on Planet Roo, and the player is one of the few who is not under the control of the wicked King Goo. He steals meteors from the sky and harnesses their energy to construct buildings. His avarice corrupts the residents, transforming them from Roogoos to evil Meemoos. The player must prevent the remaining meteors from being collected and return all Meemoos to their original state.

Roogoo also supports up to four players in co-op mode or two players in a competitive way through Xbox Live and split-screen on Windows. In the latter, players strive to solve the same task while constructing distracting attacks that slow the other player down.
