A reimagining of the original Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, is available now. The player assumes the role of Sam Stone, who is tasked with eliminating hostile extraterrestrials. The gameplay consists primarily of moving forward through levels linearly while decimating many mindless enemies. There are a variety of weaponry (including three that are brand new compared to Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter), power-ups that boost Sam’s powers, and three different environments to explore (South America, ancient Mesopotamia, and medieval Europe).
The single-player mode has not been altered in any way, although there have been 15 new secrets added, and the graphics have been refreshed. On the other hand, there are a few new multiplayer modes, such as team vs., survivor, and co-op games, as well as enhancements connected to Steam, such as achievements.
