After 5.000 years, magic thought to be extinct is rediscovered, and RNA Global seeks to seize it to gain power. Lineage, a collective, choose not to let that happen. They wish to safeguard the enchantment for all of humanity. A war breaks out.
Shadowrun is a first-person shooter set in the cyberpunk-urban fantasy cross-genre, based on the same-named license but not taking place in the same universe. Instead, the developer established a parallel timeline. The game is set in Brazil in 2031, before the events of the Shadowrun universe.
After completing the six training chapters, the user can either fight against bots or go online and compete against up to 15 other players in three game modes: Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and Artefacthunt. Each team can select one of four races: human, elf, troll, or dwarf. Depending on your chosen race, the character gets access to various talents. Trolls, for example, have more health than other races and can temporarily boost their armor.
At the start of each round, money is provided for each enemy slain or flag/artifact retrieved to be invested in weapons and spells. Only three weapons can be utilized in a single round. Grenades take up an entire slot as well. Aside from weaponry, players can also acquire magic or technology. Invulnerability, teleportation, assault spells, a radiating healing tree, and resurrection for magic, as well as the ability to see through walls, gliders, enhanced physical qualities, increased accuracy, and anti-magic generators for tech, are all included.
Shadowrun is the first game to support cross-platform gaming between Windows and the Xbox 360 via Live services. You can play with or against owners of the Xbox360 version if you have a Gold membership for Windows Live (a free month is included in the package). To equalize the chances, the targeting reticule of the Windows player is warped during fast turns, and more stability is provided. Aim help is offered to Xbox 360 owners to compensate for the pixel accuracy of Windows players.
