1999 is the year in question. The most-watched program on television in the entire globe is called Smash T.V. It is a brutal competition between two heavily armed competitors who are let loose in a succession of lethal venues packed to the brim with hordes of mindless creatures and killer robots. The game’s objective is to destroy anything that can be seen while simultaneously attempting to win more cash and rewards than the other player. Toaster ovens, videocassette recorders, flashy automobiles, and extravagant vacations are all there for the taking… for anyone who can live long enough to take advantage of them.
Eugene Jarvis, the mind behind Robotron: 2084 and the wild shoot-em-up known as Smash T.V., is responsible for both games. It keeps that game’s frenetic gameplay style and two-joystick control system, but it adds a lot of blood and gore, a lot of violence, a tinge of humor, and that all-important two-player mode.
