Street Fighter X Tekken is a collaboration between the two Japanese fighting game franchises, Tekken and Street Fighter. It’s a 2D Street Fighter game using the series’ distinctive mechanics and licensed characters from the Tekken series.
The game employs the graphic style first established in Street Fighter IV and core moves such as Super Combos and EX Attacks. The emphasis is mainly on tag team action, in which players can switch between characters swiftly during a fight and alternate between characters during intricate combos. Cross Rush, Cross Arts, and Cross Assault are the names given to these assaults. Similarly, win criteria imply that the first player to have a character with 0 health loses, rather than the entire team being beaten. Most special attacks are activated by filling up a three-tier Cross Gauge. Street Fighter characters employ the traditional six-button system, whereas Tekken characters use a four-button system.
This game features two entirely new mechanics. The gem system allows players to choose three gems for their characters, which improve their stats, such as an attack, defense, speed, vitality, assist, and Cross Gauge. These are activated during fights by meeting specific parameters. Second, the Pandora mode allows a character with less than 25 health to sacrifice himself to gain greater power and an endless Cross Gauge for the other character. This effect, however, has a time restriction, and if the opponent is not defeated promptly, the game is lost. In many game modes, both local and internet multiplayer are supported.
