In “The Darkness, Part 2,” Jackie Estacado returns triumphantly. Jackie has successfully kept the Darkness at bay for the past two years, but an unexpected assault by an opposing gang forces him to call upon his dark powers to stay alive. Jackie will embark on an investigation to solve the riddle of the organization behind the assaults. It’s also tied in some way to Jenny, his lover who was slain and whom he still loves…
The Darkness II, which a different studio developed than its predecessor, takes a more straightforward first-person shooter strategy than its predecessor’s. Jackie can now use the Darkness while also firing weaponry. Previously, she could only do one or the other. On the other hand, Jackie’s dark powers vanish the moment she enters the light, so it’s critical to get rid of any light sources. The use of ‘dark essence,’ gained after each kill, is howabilities can be strengthened and improved.
In addition to the primary campaign for a single player, a Vendetta mode also supports up to four players. It features a different plot that is told simultaneously with Jackie’s, as well as four playable characters, each with distinctive weapons and abilities.
The graphics were created with a cel-shading approach to convey the same feeling as the images in the graphic novel.
