Following the two freeware PC Flash releases, The Fancy Pants Adventures is the third main game in the series and the first to come on a console. Players take control of the character Fancy Pants, whose sister pirates have kidnaped Cutie Pants. Like the classic games, Fancy Pants is a stick figure in a drawn setting who moves quickly. The mobility choices are similar to the previous games in that Fancy Pants can slide, leap on top of foes to take them out, use trampolines and loops for air acrobatics, and wall jump and hang onto ledges.
A bedroom is a central point for selecting game modes and storing rewards. There includes a training room where you may practice the game mechanics and unlock single-player tasks with various medals (race against the clock, play golf, achieve a particular number of points for doing acrobatics). The Story mode is the most important. It has several levels to help you find your missing sister. Each world has a unique graphic design, including pirates, ninjas, and ice themes. The objective is always to get to the exit. Exploration is encouraged to find golden stars, conventional shells, and unusual shells. There are also hidden NPCs that provide short tasks and other secret challenges, usually accessed through doors. Completing these unlocks new clothing pieces as well as weapons. Once a weapon, such as a sword or a pencil, is discovered, the character can perform more robust air attacks. Fancy Pants has a limited number of lives, can absorb several knocks, and has several bosses to defeat.
Up to four players can play multiplayer locally or online, in free-for-all or cooperative modes. On a single screen, the story mode can be played jointly. Players combat with weapons on a single screen in the unlockable King of the Hill mode. The HD versions of the first two games, The Fancy Pants Adventure: World 1 and The Fancy Pants Adventure: World 2, are available as a bonus.
