The Godfather: The Game is a role-playing video game that takes place in New York City after World War II and focuses on the progression of a player-created character through a fictional organized crime family based on the book and film franchises. The player must earn respect by completing tasks located inside territory owned by New York’s five crime families to advance through the game, combining events from the film with side-story missions.
The game’s story is primarily unrestricted, and it is driven by a series of missions in which the player can use violence, intimidation, or diplomacy to change the conclusion and influence future events and other characters’ reactions. The Godfather: The Game is an action video from the third-person perspective. Gameplay elements include a punching mechanism that allows you to express yourself ruthlessly, a car theft and driving engine, and a shooting system that allows for locational damage.
The game takes place in a persistent offline environment populated with characters and locales from the franchise, many of whom have their voices provided by the actors that represented them in the film adaptations.
