Shortly, scientists will create a Quantum suit allowing the bearer to travel through time. When Aiden Krone enters the lab, steals the Alphasuit, and time-jumps before blowing up the building, two Alpha and Betasuit prototypes are ready for testing. Fortunately, you were present and had the opportunity to enter the Betasuit and trigger time travel before the building was destroyed. However, because the suit waited a second too long to jump, the explosion impacted it, and your jump did not go as anticipated. When you wake up in an alley in the future, you immediately find that Krone has declared himself the world’s leader and has changed it into a totalitarian state with him as the dictator. You are discovered by the rebels shortly after waking up, and you join their mission to stop Krone and repair the timeline because the bomb too seriously damaged your suit.
Fight through hordes of opponents with futuristic, but also traditional, weapons such as pistols and shotguns. Your suit isn’t wholly rendered worthless. It still lets you slow down, rewind, and fast-forward for a limited time. This not only allows you to overcome obstacles like fire, but it also allows you to deceive your opponents. Players can slow down time and grab a weapon from an enemy’s grasp if he doesn’t have a firm grip. This function is also used for minor time-based puzzles.
The time manipulation feature from the Prince of Persia series differs noticeably. Manipulation of time does not affect oneself, and when you are too severely injured and die, you cannot just rewind time. You are still dead and must reload. There are also no medipacks in the game. Instead, if the hero is wounded, he only needs to rest briefly before fully healing.
Time manipulation is also a part of the multiplayer experience. In addition to the standard game modes of Deathmatch, Team-Deathmatch, One-on-One, and Capture the Flag, the game includes King of Time and Meltdown Madness.
A temporal Sphere in the center of the map in King of Time makes you resistant to all material effects. To win the game, you must kill as many people as possible while you hold the item. Meltdown Madness demands you to throw Chrono Grenades at the opponent team’s machine to stop it from working. When a team’s machine completes its countdown, that team wins.
In addition to the Time Shield and Time Resistance power-ups, Chrono Grenades are available in all other game types. At the same time, Chrono Grenades exist in three varieties that slow, advance, or rewind time near the detonation. The Time Shield protects you from time manipulation and slows down any foreign objects in a defined area, which helps avoid hostile fire. The Time Resistance power-up offers immunity to all temporal effects for a limited time.
