In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas, the player’s team wasn’t the only Rainbow Six unit in Sin City then. A second group, led by Team Leader Bishop, cleansed the city’s backyards while the other team partied at the casinos. The player assumes control of Bishop and travels to the seedy side of Las Vegas.

The gameplay hasn’t altered since the previous title; thus, the game places four team members at the player’s disposal, to whom he can issue orders via the tactical interface, such as “Move to” or “Use Gadget.” As he traverses through enemy-infested areas, obtaining cover from his team, defusing bombs, and rescuing hostages, two new features emerge: Persistent Elite Creation (P.E.C.) and Advanced Combat Enhancement Specialisation (ACES).

The P.E.C. enables the player to create a distinct identity and save his progress from one match to the next. The player receives experience by killing bad guys and completing objectives in both single and multiplayer modes. When he has accumulated enough experience to advance to the next rank, he can acquire new weapons, body armor, and other more or less helpful stuff. The ACES system goes one step further, rewarding you with experience and potent weaponry if you complete challenges in three categories: Marksman, Close Quarters, and Assault. These challenges range from completing a Story Mode map to taking a string of headshots.
