With Andy away at college, Woody, Buzz, and the other toys have ended up at Sunnyside Daycare. Lotso, a teddy bear, manages the place, but it soon becomes clear that not all is sunny in Sunnyside after all… Toy Story 3 by Disney/Pixar, takes you on an adventure with the toys that take them to Sunnyside and beyond, as well as areas not seen in the film, such as Bonnie’s caffeine-fueled fantasy.

The game has two modes. The first is Story Mode, in which the toys recount the movie’s events to their newfound pals. Players take control of Woody, Jessie, and Buzz in this mode, each with unique moves to help them explore the world. Story Mode takes players back to Andy’s idea of Woody in the untamed west, lets them play the Buzz Lightyear videogame seen at the start of Toy Story 2, has them breaking out of Sunnyside in a stealth level, and even takes them to a Haunted Bakery! Each class has hidden secret cards that reveal extra benefits such as concept art, a brief making-of-film, and, most of all, new toys for the Toy Box Mode.

Toy Box Mode provides a more in-depth experience than Story Mode. In this mode, players can explore the whole globe of Woody’s Roundup as Woody, Buzz, or Jessie (or Emperor Zurg in the PlayStation 3 version). In this mode, players use the money they earn by completing missions, ranging from rescuing cows to destroying dams, taking photos of people or places, racing in a giant stunt track, catching bank robbers and throwing them in jail, and pretty much anything else!

Money can be spent on new town structures, Micro Machines-style racing, Bullseye the horse (to ride), and even additional inhabitants for your town. You can even renovate your village however you choose, utilizing the objects found in toy capsules scattered over the countryside. These things can be used to change the appearance of your buildings or the residents themselves, such as changing their hairdo and attire or giving them a new hat. Some special missions are supplied using a ViewMaster-style toy in which you look at photographs that hint at how to dress up toys or structures (for example, dressing up four townspeople as a mariachi band and then arranging them in front of the saloon).
