Rubi Malone refers to herself as a problem solver. Others might describe her as a mercenary. She performs what she’s told without questioning or going over corpses to get enough money. But one day, Robert Pelham dares to betray her – a tremendous mistake. She proceeds on a vengeful rampage, traversing numerous countries and encountering hordes and minions. The entire game is envisioned as a Grindhouse film, with scratches all over the screen, missing scenes, a lot of blood and gore, and a lot of emphasis on staged action scenes.

Like John Woo’s Stranglehold, WET is a third-person shooter with a significant emphasis on acrobatic acrobatics. While Rubi may kill adversaries by going about and shooting with her four various sorts of weaponry (two pistols with infinite ammo, two shotguns, two machine pistols, and two crossbows), she doesn’t cause much damage and is relatively slow. Instead, she must leap around, slide on the floor, or walk on the walls, pausing time until she returns to the floor. During these actions, she can also use both weapons to automatically target one adversary while manually targeting another using the crosshair. She earns points for each kill, and her multiplier goes up to x5 based on how quickly and “stylishly” she kills adversaries. The multiplier is crucial because Rubi only regenerates HP when it is active, making her almost invulnerable once she reaches and successfully maintains x5. Drinking from whiskey bottles distributed around the stages is the only other option to replenish health. Earned points can be used to purchase new moves, upgrade existing ones, and enhance her weaponry. She also possesses a sword, which she employs as a door opener to dispatch foes in physical combat.

In addition to the standard fighting and action/adventure-like climbing and jumping activities, there are simple quick-time events for boss fights, other scripted events, and the so-called Rage mode. Rubi kills an enemy at close range at predetermined intervals in the game and gets blood all over her face. This irritates her and transforms the realistic images into a red-black-white cartoon world. Rubi is practically invulnerable in anger mode, faster, and punches harder – but he also has to cope with many more foes. After completing the game, more difficulty settings are unlocked, including an arcade version in which each adversary can only take one bullet, and Rubi has significantly less health. A points mode is also unlocked, in which the player can select each story mode level and try to beat their high score and Rubi’s home. Several other challenges await the player at Rubi’s house, an abandoned plane graveyard, such as getting from A to B in the shortest time possible or shooting targets for points.
