Milo Burik works as a Wheelman. He drives people who are more concerned with speed than with following traffic rules. Milo is an undercover agent dispatched to Barcelona to infiltrate the local underworld, but he soon finds himself caught in a gang war between three opposing gangs.

The player assumes the character of Milo Burik, who walks and drives throughout the city without looking over his shoulder. As a Wheelman, Milo not only drives his automobile or motorcycle but also uses them as a weapon. The player crashes his automobile into other cars until they catch fire, either swinging the mouse or using one of the sticks. It also enables him to alter lanes swiftly or drive through obstacles. The player fills up his focus power, used for special attacks, by wrecking other vehicles, speeding, and generally wreaking havoc around the city. Using this power allows him to gain speed, achieve perfect aim at high rates, or complete a 180° turn, aim, and destroy his pursuer with a single shot. Milo’s automobile, however, is not his only weapon. Pistols, machine guns, and other weapons are available for use both outside and inside cars, and if his car is ready to blow up or he simply doesn’t like the color, he can conduct an air jack. An air jack can be used once Milo’s car is close to another vehicle or motorcycle. He climbs over, eliminates the original driver, and continues his journey in his new car after pressing the corresponding button.

This is used to develop the main plot and the numerous side quests available to the player. These range from taxi missions, in which the player must get a passenger to his destination as quickly as possible, to rampages, in which destruction is everything, and capture and delivery missions, in which Milo must use his air jack ability to steal a specific vehicle and deliver it to the drop point on time. All have in common that the player is graded based on his performance at the end of the game, with “S” being the highest rank and “C” being the lowest. If the player gets at least an “A,” he unlocks further tasks and, eventually, access to more repair shops and weapon depots. Once enabled, the following plot quest and all side activities can be accessed directly from the PDA’s city map.
