Worms Revolution is the sequel to the Worms series. With some new components, the game builds on the same basics as previous editions in the franchise.
The game employs a 3D engine, although it remains two-dimensional. As in previous games, teams of worms aim to take each other out with a range of familiar weaponry. The game includes new weaponry, such as a water pistol that uses the game’s new water mechanics. Pools of water are present in the randomly generated levels, and the water can travel to different spots by deforming the ground and building tunnels, cleaning worms along the way. Random objects in the terrain now behave more predictably: a big box of rat poison emits a poison cloud when destroyed, and a can of lighter fluid ignites a sea of flames.
Worms can now choose a class that provides them benefits such as increased health each round or the ability to jump and run faster.
As in previous games, the worms can be highly customized, and there are a variety of game modes for both single vs. AI, local, and online multiplayer.
