X-Men is an arcade game that was released by Konami in 1992. It brings together six of the most famous mutants in a battle to prevent Magneto, the master of magnetism, from taking over the world once and for all while saving Professor X’s life.
The beat them up video game is played from a side-scrolling perspective, allowing up to six players to participate in online co-op play. Players can take on the role of Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, or Dazzler. Throughout the the game’s several stages, the X-Men will face various adversaries, some of which will be recognizable from the Marvel comic book series and others exclusive to the game itself. These foes include the lethal robotic Sentinels and characters like Juggernaut, the Blob, and Mystique. If they can outlast Magneto’s many henchmen, they will finally have to battle with Magneto himself at some point.
This package includes not just the US and Japan versions of the game but also the 6-player (widescreen) and 4-player (fullscreen) variations that may be played simultaneously. In the Japanese version, using special techniques consumes mutant power before it consumes health. When more than one player is involved in the game, adversaries will drop goods that can be used to replenish both health and mutant power. In the version available in the United States, the only way for mutant power and health to be restored is by beating bosses or by continuing the game. However, when Magneto has been defeated, it can continue playing on a second loop.
