The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC versions of X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Uncaged Edition) differ significantly from the Wii, PlayStation 2, PSP, and NDS versions, which are simply titled X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
The game follows the film’s plot of the same name, depicting Logan, aka Wolverine’s life, before joining the X-Men. Starting on the final mission of the elite military squad, Team X, the player witnesses Kayla’s death, escapes from Weapon Factory X with his new reinforced skeleton, and eventually aids Wolverine in avenging Victor Creed, aka Sabretooth. Substantial usage of the famed steel swords is required between dozens of foes, including a few boss fights. Wolverine uses a variety of combos and finishes while slashing through his adversaries, transforming his typical light and brutal attacks into devastating damage. It’s also feasible to incorporate the surroundings into an enemy’s death by throwing him onto a spike or something similarly painful. The player can also use four Fury Attacks. These assaults are potent but must be carried out with wrath. Rage, on the other hand, is obtained by simply killing adversaries. In addition, the game employs Quick Time Events to play out planned cinematic sequences.
Logan receives experience points by killing adversaries (including a multiplier if he defeats them in quick succession) and by locating dog tags concealed on dead troops throughout the stages. Wolverine rises a level after accumulating enough experience, acquiring more health and skill points. These can then be utilized to learn new combos or strengthen already-known ones. Wolverine’s old comic-book outfits, in addition to the dog tags, are buried throughout the levels. Finding them all unlocks bonus challenges and allows players to employ the associated suit in the regular game.
