Defend Your Castle is a recreation of the makers’ previous flash-based online game of the same name. Despite many changes, the premise and purpose remain the same: protect your castle!
Only the Wii Remote is required to play. When enemies attack your castle, use the A or B buttons to pick them up and fling them away, or use the d-pad to cast various offensive spells. As the rounds go on, so will the enemies: more and different enemies will come faster. Money obtained by destroying invaders can be used to support the creation of crucial castle towers or improve the castle’s ” health ” between stages. When playing multiplayer, the player with the most incredible score in the current round is crowned King and has complete control over how the money is spent. Play continues until your castle is captured, but you can try again with the ability to save between rounds.
Enemies can also be dropped into a Pit of Conversion to convert them. Though they will not engage in direct combat, you can assign them to one of the castle’s towers, each symbolizing a particular talent. Stone masons will speed up the castle’s renovation. Archers will dispatch invaders. The more mages there are, the more offensive spells are available and the faster they recharge. Demolition workers… blow up.
Unlike its predecessor, the Wii game is designed to appear to be composed of real-life home items: Men have bodies done in crayons and buttons for heads—tissue paper clouds on string float across the sky. One of the spells erases an opponent with an eraser. Even the cursors used by the players are complex plastic bread ties.
