HoopWorld is an arcade-style action sports basketball game in which two teams of three compete against one another to protect their home courts.
The game’s goal is to score the most baskets in the shortest amount of time. The player is in charge of one team of three characters. To win the Match, he sprints, passes the ball, battles, kicks, punches rival team characters, snatches the ball from them, and executes dunks. These acts are carried out with the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk controller. During a match, Mystery Boxes will emerge on the court at random. Running over them will pick them up and reveal one of eight available power-ups, which alter gameplay and allow players to shield their team or basket, enhance energy, or drain points from the opponent’s score.
The basketball courts are located in various outdoor settings, including a jungle, the interior of a volcano, a tropical island, a Greek hamlet, a desert, and a gloomy woodland. Each court features a two-point, three-point, and four-point scoring zone; the greater the distance from the opponent’s basket, the higher the points when scoring from a distance. The user can choose from various teams, including a Goth team, Samba Girls, Archaeologists, a Wild Western team, Mercenaries, or Alien Robots.
HoopWorld can be played against the computer or with a friend. There are three game modes to choose from. Quick Match allows for a brief session. The player goes through all available courts in Tournament Mode, and winning matches in Tournament Mode unlocks screens, teams, and courts in Quick Match Mode. There is also a Survival Mode, an unending mode in which the player continues to play until he is defeated. In this phase, AI becomes increasingly challenging. When a player loses in this mode, his points from all matches played in this session are accumulated, and the player can upload this score to an online leaderboard. In addition to three different game modes, players can select from four different difficulty levels. These range from simple to bizarre.
