The rough-housing gameplay, bizarre codes, and humorous commentary are all still present and intact in SlugFest 20-04, the second entry in Midway’s baseball series of video games. In addition to the brand new Home Run Derby mode and the Create-A-Team customization options, the game also includes the ability for pitchers to catch “On Fire” and impossible Special Pitches that zigzag, arch, and whizz by in ways that would make any batter feel like an idiot. The previous group of secret teams has been supplemented with additional ones, and these new teams include aliens, minotaurs, and Sub-Zero from the Mortal Kombat franchise. Instant Replay, which can be customized, is another feature that adds a nice touch and, and it enables you to relive the awkward moments after you have paused the game. And, of course, Tim Kitzrow and Jim Shorts will be back in the commentators’ booth, where they will continue to engage in the rambling, argumentative banter that has become their trademark.
