Super Mario 64: The Missing Stars

Super Mario 64 Super Mario 64’s first official major ROM hack is The Missing Stars. It has 38 Stars and was released in April 2009. It is brief and uncryptic, and it is easy to understand. One of the most unique hacks, it uses many interesting and unique gimmicks in each in “levels”. The hack is also different because most stars are in small overworld areas rather than standard courses. Mario or Luigi must cross platforms in these large, flat areas to reach Stars or coins. This hack emphasizes gameplay and progression changes. Using Mario’s perspective is recommended because Lakitu Cam seems to focus on the level’s center. Keep in mind that pipes and sections change the camera. Note that character selection and the final boss require the left and right directional pad inputs, so you may need to map them.
