Lovestorix feels for Princess Irina, but Brutus also wishes to marry her. To overcome this difficulty, the Princess plans to marry the winner of the Olympic Games. At the same time, the wicked Doctormabus has discovered a dimensional key that allows him to open portals to other realities and threatens to ruin the world’s balance. But, of course, Asterix and Obelix must not only stop Doctormabus but also assist Lovestorix in winning the games.
As in Astérix & Obélix XXL 2: Mission: Las Vegum, you control Asterix and Obelix and fight your way through legions of Romans, accumulating punch combinations and solving tiny puzzles. At any time, you can switch between controlling Asterix and Obelix. However, because you are competing in the Olympic Games, various mini-games must be completed to proceed further in the plot. Long Jump and Tug of War are examples of mini-games. These field events are similar to Asterix and Obelix in that you switch between two buttons as quickly as possible run.
After completing an event in the story mode, you can replay it in Olympic Mode, where two players (or one player against the CPU) compete for the gold medal in each discipline.
You may also earn helmets during the story mode by destroying landscapes or beating up Romans. These can be used to purchase health or new combos in-game or unlock movie portions. As you go through the tale, you can unlock new characters for the Olympic Mode.
Also, the game does not directly follow the storyline of the comic or the movie; instead, the twist with the portals to the actual world is exploited to incorporate some movie actors in the game.
