Balls of Fury is a table tennis game based on the same-named film.

The game’s four modes are exhibition, Arcade (a series of elimination matches), Tournament (a four or eight-person elimination tournament), and Story. In the final phase, players take on the character of Randy Daytona, and the game is based on the events in the film. The player begins in youth, and the game progresses through cut-scenes between bouts until adulthood.

Players use the Wii remote to replicate table tennis motions to complete shots, slams, and lobs. Spin can also be added, and images can be connected into combinations by moving the joystick diagonally, allowing you to smash or lob left or right. Each player is given two power moves. These cause the ball to burst into flames or move erratically. The game is less of a simulation than Rockstar Games’ Table Tennis. For serving and volleys, each player has a power move. They require a power bar, replenished by volleying back and forth with the opponent.

Players can also employ taunts to distract their opponents. It shakes the player’s camera and rumbles the Wii controller next to a line of dialogue. Only the first six characters are available now (Randy Daytona, Maggie, Feng, The Dragon, Freddy “Fingers” Wilson, Yukito Nagasaki, Karl Wolfschtagg, Master Wong, Young Randy, and The Hammer). The additional characters must be unlocked by performing successfully, and ten awards must be added to the trophy room.

There are three difficulty levels and six locations in all (Korean Olympic Gym, Reno Middle School, Master Wong’s Training School, Chinatown Gym, Feng’s Tournament Room, and Feng’s Rec Room) in specific modes.
