After a wreck, a wealthy young lad, Aidan, and a young girl and modest waitress, Lucy, find themselves on a lonely island (or what appears to be a deserted island). While gathering resources to survive, they will discover new regions of the island by exploring it and have to think about how to advance, similar to reading puzzles. Activities and movements are typical of the Lost in Blue franchise, such as making fires and fishing, can now be performed for the first time in the series by moving the Wii Remote in a fashion that mimics what the moves would be. This time, however, the heroes have pet animals as adventure companions to assist them with their skills: for example, they make music, dance, and collect goods that the human characters cannot.
Like previous installments, there is a selection of mini-games (this time more than thirteen); new is the ability to play a selection of these jointly. Because of the character picked as the main character, the game has more than one unique ending and more than one distinct plot line.
